This month at Send A Smile 4 Kids we're creating cards that celebrate summer fun. I had to crack out an oldie but goodie for this card. I stamped by stamping the scooter from Paper Smooches Spiffy Scooters stamp set onto white card stock. I colored the lights and wheels using my alcohol markers. Using patterned papers from Simple Stories Sunkissed 6x8 paper pad, I stamped the scooter again onto various patterned papers, fussy cut them out, and adhered them to the original image. Using real red cardstock from Stampin' UP and a pretty orange polka paper from the same Simple Stories paper pad I created my card base. I then created a contrasting strip for the bottom half of the card using a pretty floral paper from the same paper pad and red cardstock. I created the frilly border using a border punch from EK Success. Using Spellbinders nesting circle and scalloped circle dies I created the focal panel using red cardstock and a nice blue grid patterned paper. I popped up the circle panel using thin foam tape. I adhered the scooter onto the circle with a few clouds I had punched using a mini cloud punch by Fiskars. I finished the card off by stamping the sentiment from the same stamp set at the bottom of the card. I love how cute this sweet, summer card is! Happy Birthday-Send A Smile 4 Kids
This month at Send A Smile 4 Kids we are celebrating birthdays! I had purchased the MFT Green Pastures and The Whole Herd stamp sets during the Memorial Day sales and had not had a chance to use them yet. I have a birthday party I'll be attending in two weeks for a little girl and thought this set would be perfect for her card. To create my card I started by layering some fun bandana patterned paper from the American Crafts Heartland Farm 6x6 paper pad onto my white A2 cardbase. Using real red cardstock from Stampin' UP, I cut down some small slivers and attached them to the top and bottom of the cardstock to break up the patterned paper from the white cardbase. I stamped the sentiment from the Whole Herd stamp set using Gina K Designs black ink. I then die cut a stitched circle using a Gina Marie Designs stitched circle nesting die, inked the background in bashful blue ink from Stampin' UP, splattered some water on the background and dried it for some visual interest. I diecut a piece of olive green cardstock from Stampin' UP using an MFT border grass die and cut it to fit the circle panel. I adhered the two pieces together and popped it up off of the card using 3M foam tape. I stamped the little girl from Green Pastures, and colored her using my Copic markers. I stamped her shirt in more patterned paper from the same American Crafts Heartland Farms paper pad and paper pieced that onto the little girl, and used the coordinating diecut to cut her out. I stamped the pig and chickens from the Whole Herd stamp set, colored them with my alcohol markers, and fussy cut them out since I don't have the coordinating dies. I adhered them to my focal panel. I popped the little girl up using Stampin' UP foam dimensionals. To finish off my card I added some fun little clouds in the sky using a Fiskars mini cloud punch and added some white gel details to all of my critters. Thank you for stopping by my blog today, and if you left a comment I just want you to know how much I appreciate you! Be sure to stop off at the Send A Smile 4 Kids blog and see how everyone else was inspired by this month's theme.

You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Gray
Okay, I'm on a card making roll here today and wanted to share one last card that I made for the Retro Sketches challenge before I go watch some women's soccer. I chose Stampin' UP's See Ya Later stamp set for the start of my card. I love this cute sentiment but have only used it a few times. I masked off the sun and clouds with some painter's tape before I stamped the sentiment because I wanted the rainbow and clouds to be the primary focal image on the card. I cut the rainbow out of some 110 lb cardstock using a Paper Smooches die and then colored each individual arch with the following Copic colors: R29, YR07, Y08, G02, B24, and BV17. Love the way it turned out. I punched the clouds using a Fiskars punch and added some dashed lines around them edges to make them stand out. I added the same dashed lines around the inner white panel to really make it pop. I used some thin satin ribbon to add the bow around the main panel and adhered it to my white card base. Love this happy little card and I hope you do too!
