You're Great-Coffee And Cards With Celeste And Deb

Hello, and welcome to the February edition of Coffee And Cards With Celeste And Deb! This month we decided to do a mood board so I searched Pinterest for my inspiration. I found a beautiful collection of items and decided on a theme of black, white, pink, and gold. We also have a special guest with us again this month...the wonderful Terri Albro Burson. She is fantastically crafty and designs for So Suzy Stamps and is the spokesperson for Adornit! She, Deb, and I have been crafty friends for years and thought it would be fun to have her guest with us this month! 

To create my card I started by layering some beautiful white and gold patterned paper from The Shoppe On The Square paper pad by The Paper Studio onto some basic black cardstock by Stampin' UP, which I then adhered directly onto my white card base. I cut a smaller strip of pink and white patterned paper from the same paper pad and matted it onto more black cardstock and adhered it directly onto the focal panel. I stamped the beautiful floral image from Unity Stamp Company's As We Go Along stamp set onto some Copic-friendly cardstock and colored the flowers in using the colors from the mood board. I added some black and white stripes to the vase using my dual tip Memento tuxedo black marker. I fussy cut the images out and popped them up off of the card using Stampin' UP foam dimensionals. I added some black Wink of Stella to the black stripes on the base and some Forever In Time gold gel pen to the centers of the flowers for some pretty shimmer and shine. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto the contrast border using Versafine onyx black ink for a nice, crisp look. A few dots of ebony black Nuvo Crystal Drops finished this  card off nicely!

Father

A friend of mine asked me to make her a card for her father who she recently reconnected with after many years of separation. I felt honored to make such a special card for her. I decided to keep it simple and let the inside sentiment stand out. I stamped the beautiful pocket watch from Forever In Time's Timepieces stamp set using Memento rich cocoa ink. I stamped the front panel sentiment using Verve Stamps World's Best stamp set. I matted the sentiment strip onto some rich cocoa cardstock from Hobby Lobby and then adhered it onto the main panel. Using a stitched rectangle die from Gina Marie Designs I die cut the panel out and then mounted it onto some more of the dark brown cardstock. I popped the center panel up using 3M foam tape for some added dimension. For the inside I formatted a personal message using a word document and printed it out onto some coordinating cardstock. I love how clean and simple this turned! I hope you like it too!

My last card today was created for the latest Lawnscaping Challenge. I have never been very good at painting, especially watercoloring. I've watched plenty of YouTube videos on a variety of techniques but I've never really been able to master the whole art form. Given that in mind, I chose to participate in this challenge and use some very simple shapes that I didn't think I could do much damage to, so to speak. LOL. I started with a piece of Strathmore cold press watercolor paper. I prepared the paper using my powder tool because I planned on embossing my images to help keep the paint from mixing around too much. I stamped out the adorable lanterns from the Lawn Fawn Lunar Lights stamp set as well as one of the sentiments using Versamark ink and then heat embossed all of them using some black detail embossing powder by Recollections. Using my Simply Art watercolor palette I colored the images in using reds, dark pinks, blues, and greens. I masked the images and the sentiment using some Inkadinkado masking paper and splattered on some Ranger Distress Spray Stain in black soot. I heat the whole thing with my heat tool to dry it and then popped the whole panel up onto a white card base using some 3M foam tape. I then added a few dots here and there using a gold gel pen by Forever In Time. I hope you like it!
