Dream-W2CB August/September Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the August/September Words 2 Craft By challenge. This month's challenge is "Will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.). Kid, you'll move mountains!-Dr. Suess." This made me think of graduation and all of the hope and promise that comes with ending a scholastic chapter of a person's life and the beginning of implementing that education into the next phase of life. So, I created a graduation card. To create this fun gender neutral card I started by layering some textured black cardstock from Hobby Lobby onto my white card base. I then layered some patterned papers from the K&Company's Graduation Designer Mat Pad paper pack onto the card and added a strip of black cardstock that I cut with a dotted edge die from Paper Smooches in between the two papers for some contrast. I then stamped the image from Unity Stamp Company's Diploma Cap & Gown mini stamp set onto some white cardstock from Staples using Versafine and heat embossed it using Zing clear embossing powder and my heat tool. I trimmed the image down and mounted it onto more of the same black cardstock and popped it up off of the card base at an angle using fun foam from Hobby Lobby. I then stamped the same image again onto a small strip of the patterned paper and trimmed it down into a fishtail banner and mounted it up off of the focal image using some Scrapbook Adhesives foam squares. To finish this card off I added some 6mm black sequins from Pretty Pink Posh around the focal panel. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the team comes up with and how it inspires the rest of you create something fun and inspirational!

Yay, You!

Hello, and Happy 4th of July! Today's card was created for the latest The Paper Players challenge. To create my card I started by layering some textured cardstock from the Ki natural cardstock 6x6 paper pad onto my white card base. I then die cut some fishtail banners using patterned papers from the K&Company Graduation 4x6 paper pad using a Jillian Vance die. I layered them onto my card at an angle and then stamped the graduation cap and sentiment from the Stampin' UP Pomp & Circumstance stamp set onto a small panel using both Versafine onyx black ink and Memento London fog grey ink. I matted that panel using more of the same Ki cardstock and popped the panel up using some 3M foam tape. I added a few dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops in ebony and some black dashed lines around the card and panel to finish it off. I hope you like it and thank you for visiting my blog!

Merry Christmas

Today's card was created for the Jingle Belles Holiday Leftover challenge. The challenge is to use leftover scraps of paper, an image or stamp you've never used, or little bits of embellishment you have lying around. One of my favorite leftover techniques is to use a punch to use up those little bits of paper from my 6x6 paper pads that you can really use to create anything else. For my card today I used a Fiskars hexagon paper punch and took all the leftover scraps from an old K&Company Susan Winget Christmas paper pack. It's a beautiful paper pack filled with gorgeous images in traditional Christmas colors but those little snippets leftover are really tough to use for things like paper piecing since they have larger images on them. The hex punch really gives me a nice way to use those hard to use scraps up and to create something pretty out something that might have been thrown away! Creating this card was easy. I simply started with a white card base and layered on some inexpensive evergreen cardstock from Hobby Lobby as a focal layer. I punched my hex shapes out of my scraps of paper and layered them onto a piece of tying paper that I created a grid on to keep my pieces straight. Once done I added a strip of the patterned paper with some more of the green cardstock followed by some more white for my sentiment. I stamped my holiday greeting in Versafine onyx black ink and added a few matte red sequins I picked up at the Dollar Store and called this card done. Easy peasy and so pretty!
