Hello! Welcome to the November Send A Smile 4 Kids card challenge. This month we are creating happy holiday cards for kids. To create my card I started by stamping this adorable little gingerbread man from Purple Onion onto some white Copic-friendly cardstock, colored him using my alcohol markers, and fussy cut him out. I edged him with my Momento tuxedo black marker and popped him up using Stampin' UP foam dimensionals. I then cut a square out of more white cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the Avery Elle Joy To The World stamp set using Versafine onyx black ink. I die cut the square scalloped edge frame from cherry cobbler cardstock from Stampin' UP using a die from Spellbinders. To create the card I started by layering some cherry cobbler cardstock directly onto my white A2 cardbase and then started layering pretty Christmas patterned papers from Echo Park. The collection is so old I've honestly lost track of the name of it and when it was made. LOL. Yes, I'm a paper hoarder! Once I finished layering all of the panels onto the card I popped the focal panel up off of the card using 3M foam tape. To finish the card off I added some black gems from Ki to the corners and a little glitter pen to the details on the gingerbread man. So cute and so very fun!
Today's card was created for the latest Less Is More challenge. This week's challenge called for a "recipe" of emboss resist. It's been a while since I used this technique on a card and wanted to play along and challenge myself. I started with a piece of white cardstock and, after prepping the surface with my powder tool, I stamped the two smallest snowflakes from the Stampabilities Winter Wonderland stamp set using Versamark ink and heat set them using Recollections snow white embossing powder. Once dry I inked the panel with Tim Holtz distress ink in broken china and faded jeans, creating a nice ombre effect. I took a tissue and brushed off the excess ink from the snowflakes and then spritzed the panel with both water and frost shimmer spray by Tsukineko. I love using that shimmer spray on snowy scenes because of the beautiful shimmer it gives. While that base panel was drying I stamped Purple Onion's Merry Snowman out onto some Copic-friendly cardstock and colored him in using my alcohol markers. I fussy cut around the image and freehand cut the snowy slopes around him. I edged the image using my dual tipped Memento tuxedo black marker. I then adhered the image directly to the distressed panel. I stamped the sentiment from Amy R's Big Christmas Wishes stamp set and, even though you can't see it in the photo, added some pretty shimmer to the letters using my clear Spica shimmer marker. I love how adorably sweet this card turned out and may have to mass produce this one. Today's adorable Christmas card was created for two challenges...the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown challenge to use paper piecing on your card and the Merry Monday challenge to use a card depicting Christmas caroling. I started by stamping the adorable snowman trio from Purple Onion Designs onto some white cardstock and coloring them in using Copic markers. I stamped the image again and stamped them onto some patterned paper from the Carta Bella Warm & Cozy 6x6 paper pad and paper pieced the bands on the snowmen's hats, their scarves, and the trees out and adhered them to the already colored image. I added some shadow and dimension to the paper pieced images with my Copic markers. I die cut some banks of snow using some Paper Smooches border dies and adhered them together. Then I fussy cut around the stamped image and outlined it using my Memento tuxedo black dual tip marker. I cut a small piece of some pretty blue snowflake paper from the American Crafts Wish List 6x6 paper pad and adhered it onto my white card base. I then adhered my stamped image panel down and then my snow banks. Once it was all adhered I added some clear Wink of Stella to the snowmen's noses and to the paper pieced parts. Then I stamped the musical notes from Lawn Fawn's Stay Tuned stamp set and the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Cheerful Christmas Greetings stamp set using Versafine onyx black ink. I added the finishing touch of some shimmery "snow" to the snow banks by adding some Stickles frosted lace to the edges. Love how adorably it turned out!
When I saw the new challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges I knew I had to break out my Purple Onion Snowman Trio stamp. I always have so much fun coloring and fussy cutting this stamp set. I layered the snowmen onto a piece of patterned kraft snowflake paper from the American Crafts Noel 6x6 paper collection and then mounted it onto a slightly larger piece of smooth white cardstock. I added a small side panel of green on green striped patterned paper from the same AC paper pad and layered it all onto a kraft cardbase from American Crafts. I chose to leave the from plain with no sentiment and would add that to the inside. A bit of clear Wink of Stella on the snowmen's noses, scarves, and bands of their hats was all the dressing up this simple card needed.
